National Collegiate Soils Judging Contest
The contest has been held at different host institutions each year since 1961. Soil contestants arrive at various soil pits and are expected to correctly identify, evaluate, classify, and describe the four soil profiles. Learn more about our soil judging contest.
National Research Symposium Contest
Every year at the Annual Meeting, student have the opportunity to showcase their research at the undergraduate research symposium. We host both poster and oral contests for students to compete in. Learn more
National Club Poster Presentation Contest
The purpose of this contest is to showcase undergraduate work in club activities and give clubs recognition for promoting agronomy, crop, soil and environmental sciences on their campus or in their local community. Learn more
Presidents' Trophy Contest
At the annual meeting, students from SASES chapters make presentations about club activities in an attempt to prove they are the club of the year. Learn more
Speech Contest
The speech contest at the annual meeting is designed to highlight students' public speaking skills. Contestants must prepare a five to seven minute speech on one of three topics selected approximately six hours before the preliminary judging. Learn more
National Visual Presentation Contest
The purpose of the National Visual Presentation Contest is to develop students' abilities in preparing visual presentation materials that communicate an agronomic, soils, or environmental sciences story with the intent of educating a small audience on a technical topic. Learn more
Darrel S. Metcalfe Student Journalism Contest
This contest provides an excellent opportunity for undergraduates interested in agronomy, crop science, and soil science to gain experience in researching, organizing, and writing articles on scientific topics. Winners are published in Natural Sciences Education. Learn more

At the annual meeting, students compete in this fun, trivia contest about topics related to agronomy, soils, and environmental sciences. Learn more
